Signs your RO needs attention

Less water

Permeate output has dropped, or the system is working harder to make the same amount.

Higher pressure

Operating or differential pressure is climbing compared with when the system was new.

Worse quality

Permeate conductivity is creeping up and downstream DI resin is exhausting sooner.

More maintenance

Cartridge filters are clogging faster, or cleanings are needed more often.

What is usually behind it

Most RO performance loss comes from a handful of causes: mineral scale, iron and other metal deposits, organic matter, and biological growth. Each one needs a different approach, and the right cleaning chemistry (from mild organic acids such as citric, malic, and glycolic acid to alkaline cleaners and biocides) depends on what is actually on the membrane.

The cause is often upstream, in pretreatment, chemical dosing, or system settings. That is why cleaning alone rarely fixes a recurring problem.

Why guessing is risky

How Eclipse helps

1. Assess

We review your system data and symptoms to identify what is fouling the membranes.

2. Clean

A controlled cleaning matched to the problem, handled safely, with results confirmed.

3. Prevent

We look at pretreatment and dosing so the problem does not keep coming back.

Frequently asked questions

What is RO CIP?
CIP (clean-in-place) is a controlled chemical cleaning of RO membranes while they stay in the system. It removes scale, metal deposits, organic matter, and biological growth that normal operation cannot.

How do I know my RO membranes need cleaning?
Common signs are lower permeate output, higher operating pressure, poorer permeate quality, and cartridge filters that need changing more often. A professional review of your operating data can confirm whether cleaning is the right answer.

Can I clean RO membranes myself?
It is possible, but the wrong chemical, order, or conditions can set scale in place or permanently damage membranes. Having the problem identified first is the safest way to avoid costly mistakes.

Why does my RO keep needing to be cleaned?
Frequent cleaning usually points to an underlying issue in pretreatment, chemical dosing, or system settings. Cleaning treats the symptom, so the cause should be found and fixed.
